The Big Honour of IPL is The Winner of The IPL Season. Additionally, several awards are given to the players at the end of each season, namely Orange Cap, Purple Cap, Maximum Sixes Award, Most Valuable Player, Player of the match, Emerging Player of the Year, Fair play award, Super striker of the season, Game-changer of the season and Power player of the season. The players are honored with these awards at the end of the tournament.

Let’s get through the IPL Awards given to the player at the end of each season, including Prize money.

IPL Awards List :

IPL winner gets Prize money of Rs.20 Crores and IPL Runners Up gets Rs12.50 Crores. Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2021 winner title with Prize money of Rs.20 Crores and Kolkata Knight Riders came to Runners Up winning prize money of Rs12.50 Crores in the 14th Edition IPL. Orange Cap :

The Orange Cap is awarded to a batter participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) who makes the highest run-scorer in the Indian T20 League edition. The Orange cap holder would receive a certificate, a Trophy and Rs. 10 Lakhs as Prize Money at IPL Award Ceremony.

The orange cap holder is permitted to wear the cap while playing on the field until he keeps scoring at the top in the entire season. Otherwise, it will vary to another player who scored more runs than him. If two or more batsmen are tied on runs in the tournament, The orange cap is awarded to the batsman with a better strike rate.

Shaun Marsh was awarded first for scoring 616 runs in 11 matches in 2008. Virat Kohli held the record for most runs in 2016, he scored 973 runs in a single edition of the IPL season and David Warner has won the Orange Cap 3 times since the inauguration of IPL, the most number of Orange cap winners.

In IPL 2021 edition, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK), won the Orange Cap award title by scoring 635 runs at an average over 45 and a strike rate of 136.27.

In the 15th edition of IPL, the current orange cap holder is Jos Buttler during the tournament.

Purple Cap :

The Purple Cap is awarded to a Bowler participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) who has taken most of the wickets during the tournament and emerged as the leading wicket-taker in a particular edition of the Indian Premier League. The Purple 

Cap player would receive a cash prize of Rs. 10 Lakhs for his impressive performance.

The Purple cap holder Bowler is allowed to wear the Purple cap during the tournament until he retains the most wickets in the tournament, or else it will go to another Bowler who took more wickets than him during the Indian T20 League. If two or three bowlers with a tie, in such a case, the Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler who has a better economy rate.

Sohail Tanvir was the first bowler awarded the Purple Cap for taking 22 wickets in 11 matches in the inauguration of the year IPL 2008. Dwayne Bravo has held the record for most wickets taken in a single edition by taking 32 wickets in the 2015 IPL.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the only bowler who won the Purple Cap two times in the 2016 and 2017 editions of the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap award in the 14th edition of IPL by taking 32 wickets. He shared the record for the most wickets in an IPL 2021 with Dwayne Bravo, who took 32 wickets in IPL 2013.

IPL 2022, the current purple cap holder, is pacer Yuzvendra Chahal during this IPL season.

Maximum Sixes Award:

Maximum Sixes Award is honored to the batsman who hits the most sixes in that particular season of the IPL. The batsman would receive the award with a prize amount of Rs.10 Lakh for hitting the maximum number of sixes. If two or three players are in a tie, the award is given to the batsman having a higher strike rate in the tournament.

In the IPL 2021 season, Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul won the maximum sixes award by hitting 30 sixes and ended the tournament by scoring 626 runs with 98* in the season.

Most Valuable Player Award :

In 2013, the IPL oriented the Most Valuable Player rating system. Point 1 is given for every dot ball and every catch taken and stumping done gets 2.5 points each to the player. For every four hits, a player gets 2.5 points. For every six hit and wicket taken, a player is entitled to get 3.5 points each. The leading player is awarded with the Most Valuable Player at the end of the season. Due to sponsorship reasons, this award is currently known as Upstox Most Valuable Player and receives a prize of Rs. 10 Lakhs.

In the IPL 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Harshal Patel won the most valuable player award for scoring 264.5 points from 15 matches and became the Upstox Most Valuable Player in the IPL 2021 tournament.

Player of the match (Final) :

Player of the Match is awarded to the player who has done an outstanding game performance by showcasing their strength and talent. He comes into the limelight of everyone with his excellent performance. The awardee gets Prize money of Rs. 1 Lac at the end of the tournament.

CSK’s Faf du Plessis won the player of the match in the IPL 2021 tournament.

Emerging Player of the Year :

The Emerging Player of the Year is given to the best Young Player who performs in less than 5 Tests, 20 ODI matches (One Day Internationals), and IPL 25 matches are considered for this award. The winner has rewarded with Rs. 10 lac for the award. 

The player can win the award once and will not be considered again for the award even if the player meets the criteria.

Chennai Super Kings Ruturaj Gaikwad won the Emerging Player of IPL 2021 award and impressed everyone with his batting brilliance, scoring 635 runs. Also, he won the Orange Cap in the IPL 2021.

Fair Play Award :

The Fair Play Award is given to the team after the tournament with the best fair play record. The Umpires provide points for the team on their performances after every IPL match and the top scorer team with fair play will be awarded with Prize money of Rs. 10 Lacs.

The Fairplay Award of IPL 2021 has won by Rajasthan Royals for playing the game in the right spirit.

 Super Striker of the season :

The super striker of the season is awarded to the player who has performed well batting in each IPL match. A minimum of 10 balls is the requirement before this calculation takes place. 

The awardee will receive a prize amount of Rs 10 Lakh.

In IPL 2021 tournament, Delhi Capitals’ Shimron Hetmyer won the Super striker of the season. He scored 242 from 14 matches at the tournament’s best strike rate of 168.05. 

Currently, Chennai Super Kings Robin Uthappa holds the Punch Super Striker of the Day Award for IPL 2022.

9. Game-changer of the season :

The Game-changer of the season is awarded to the player who has changed the game for their team for best output, which comes from in just a few overs or a couple of balls in any particular IPL match. The player doesn’t need full 20 overs to win games for their team and can change the game’s outcome in an over. The awardee will receive a prize amount of Rs 10 Lakh.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Harshal Patel won The Game-changer of the season IPL 2021 for taking 32 wickets in 15 games, including one five-wicket haul and one four-wicket haul.

Power player of the season :

The player of the season is awarded to the player who performs well as a substitute batsman or bowler at the fall of a wicket or at the end of an over. The player will receive the award with Prize money of Rs. 10 Lacs. The teams will provide 15 players’ names instead of 11 players for every match.

KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer won the power player of the season IPL 2021, scored 370 runs at a strike rate of 128.47, and took 3 wickets in the tournament.

Perfect Catch of the season :

The award is honored to the player who took the best catch of the season as selected based on public vote iplt20.com and the choice of the television commentators. The winner will receive the award with Prize money of Rs. 10 Lacs.

Punjab Kings Ravi Bishnoi won the Perfect Catch of the season IPL 2021.
